Impacting Youth: One Kid at a Time

During her time as a teacher, Sue Scheetz had many opportunities to help out with her 4th graders’ swim lessons, but it wasn’t until the summer of 2015, after her retirement, when she finally decided to jump in the pool. Hoping to continue her influence on children, she began working as a swim instructor for the Towpath Trail YMCA. Sue proved to be a great role model, helping kids to achieve their goals and build self-esteem while teaching the importance of safety around water, something she herself learned from the YMCA years ago as a young girl.

“And I didn’t like to blow bubbles or get my head wet, just as none of the kids like to do now,” she states.
Sue shares this piece of advice to carry with us as we go forward, “You’re never too old to have an impact on children. They’re always watching you, even if you don’t think they are. They’re watching you and they’re learning from you. Be a positive role model.”

Proverbs 16:3
“Commit your work to the Lord, then it will succeed.”
