Update: May 19, 2020

Dear Members,

We’ve missed you at the ! The past several months have been so challenging for all of us and we thank you for doing your part to help stop the spread of coronavirus – especially for the benefit of our most vulnerable neighbors. We are thrilled to announce that we are taking steps to reopen our facility and reactivate key programs in the very near future. We are so happy to welcome you back to the Y.

As we prepare to reopen our doors, please be assured that your safety - and the safety of all our members, program participants, staff and volunteers - is our number one priority. We’re following guidelines from health experts and local officials to ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards for hygiene and safety, and we have modified our policies and programs to facilitate safe physical/social distancing practices.

We invite you to join us in whatever manner you are most comfortable – whether virtually through our Virtual YMCA or at our facility when we reopen on May 26. We’re here to help you focus on what matters most: your health, your family and friends, and your community.

Membership dues will begin again in June. Contact us if you would prefer to donate your membership payment or to extend your hold. Check our website, WestStarkY.org/WelcomeBack, for the latest reopening details. Including facility hours, what parts of the facility are open, and which programs are back.

Taking care of our health is more important now than ever before. We’re here to help you stay active and healthy and improve your well-being in spirit, mind and body, whether in person in our clean, sanitary facilities, or through our virtual programs . No matter what your age, interests or abilities, we can help you meet your personal health goals – safely.

Your Y isn’t a building. It’s people - people from all backgrounds and walks of life who come together to improve their lives, nurture their families and strengthen their community, together. At the Y, you can always find a way to make a positive impact in our community: you can volunteer on our board, coach or mentor kids, teach a class, welcome members and visitors, or make a charitable donation to help neighbors in need. Learn more .

Welcome back to the Y.

Together, we’re a better us.

While others are able to self-isolate, these employees are working long shifts, isolated from family, in order to provide critical care to the community. Child care will only be provided for parents providing health, safety and other essential services.

Letter: March 18, 2020

Dear Valued Member,

For over 100 years, the YMCA of Western Stark County has been serving and meeting the needs of our community. Although we are suspending our wellness operations during this COVID-19 pandemic, our commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility will not waiver.

We want you to know we have stopped all monthly payments until we resume operations. Annual memberships will be extended to equal the amount of time we are closed. Class credits are being issued to all those registered for programs that ended prior to the session end date.

With that being stated, we do hope you will stay with us. You can help support the charitable work of the Y by continuing your membership payments while we are closed. Your donation will help sustain us through this challenging time. We realize not everyone is able to do this, but if you would like to opt in and allow us to continue your draft, please reach out to Tom S.

We thank you for your commitment to our YMCA and allowing us to serve you and your family. We ask for your patience and continued support during this unprecedented time. Watch our Facebook for updates as we have them facebook.com/towpath.trail.ymca and facebook.com/massillon.ymca.

Sincerely,

Jim Stanford, CEO

YMCA of Western Stark County

Update March 16, 2020, 5:15pm

As of the end of the day, 3/16/2020, out of concern for our community and following Governor Dewine's orders, the Massillon YMCA and Towpath Trail YMCAs will be temporarily closing our facilities and suspending services with the exception of our licensed day care (preschool & school age child care will remain open at this time).

YMCA memberships are being placed on a temporary hold WITHOUT membership dues.

Update: March 15, 2020, 9:50pm

All classes at Massillon Family YMCA and Towpath Trail YMCA are canceled as of Monday, March 16. For now, the gym, fitness center, pool, and child care at both facilities remain open. We will share ongoing updates with you as we have them. We appreciate everyone's patience.
