The YMCA of Western Stark County offers swim lessons for those of all ages! We pride ourselves in offering a level for each individual to grow and develop their skills.
Stage A-Water Discovery & Stage B Water Exploration
Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.
Stage 1 Water Acclimation
Increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance.
Stage 2 Water Movement
Encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently.
Stage 3 Water Stamina
Develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages.
Stage 1 & 2 Water Acclimation/Movement

Stage 3 & 4 Water Stamina/Stroke Introduction
Develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages. Introduces basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.
Stage 5 Stroke Development
Introduces breast-stroke and butterfly and reinforces water safety through treading water and sidestroke.
Stage 6 Stroke Mechanics
Refines stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Swim Team Training
Each swimmer will learn, grow and thrive by developing the skills and relationships they need to be healthy, confident and connected to others. Get the swim team experience and gain a competitive edge in the water. The focus will be on improving technique, all four strokes and becoming a more efficient swimmer while having fun!
